Gas Line
Safety Tips

Are you concerned you may have a leak and need a repair?

If you are smelling a rotten egg smell you could possibly have a gas leak. The smell is produced from Mercaptan, a harmless and colorless gas added to create the smell to alert you of a possible gas leak.

It is important to leave your home and, if you can, shut off the gas at the meter and call your gas company. If you can’t get the gas shut off, then coordinate with your plumber to get your issues fixed ASAP!

If you experience any of the following, immediately leave your house and call the gas company ASAP to report a potential leak before seeking gas line repair and replacement services in Indianapolis:

  • A noticeable smell of sulfur or “rotten eggs”

  • Blowing/hissing noises from gas appliances

  • Unusual sounds from the gas source itself

  • Dead or discolored grass, plants, or other vegetation

  • People in the home feeling faint, queasy, or exhausted

If you have not had your lines inspected in some time, call your trusted local plumber to put a test on your lines to make sure your family is safe and comfortable all year around!
